Go Nerazzurri!
Inter Milan is still alive in the Coppa Italia. This Wednesday they knocked out Torino with a 2-1 that opens the doors to the semifinals.
The victory came with great goals from two Frenchmen. First it was Ange-Yoan Bonny, who hit an unstoppable header in the 35th minute. Then, as soon as the second half began, Andy Diouf appeared to extend the lead.
“It’s always special to score and help the team advance,” Diouf commented after the match.
Torino, who have not lifted this trophy since 1993, tried to react. Sandro Kulenovic scored in the 57th minute, but it was not enough to turn the score around.
A curious detail: the match was played in Monza, not in San Siro. Inter’s home was busy with preparations for the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympic Games.
Now, the objective is clear: win the Cup for the tenth time in its history. Meanwhile, the maroon dream will have to wait another season.
What’s next?
The quarterfinal round continues this Thursday with another important duel: Atalanta vs Juventus. The Bianconeri are the kings of the tournament with 15 titles.
Next week we will complete the table. Napoli hosts Como on Tuesday, and Lazio visits defending champion Bologna on Wednesday.
The semi-finals promise fire. Inter has already warmed up.
