A point that knows little
Inter are still on top, but this Saturday the air in San Siro was not one of celebration. A 1-1 draw against an Atalanta that arrived with low morale left a bittersweet taste. Francesco Esposito opened the scoring, but Nikola Krstovic, almost at the end, stole two points that seemed safe.
“It was a hard blow in the final minutes. We knew what was at stake,” admitted a local team player after the final whistle.
The streak that worries. This is not an isolated blip. The Nerazzurri have only won two of their last seven games in all competitions. The elimination against Bodø/Glimt in Europe still weighs heavily. To make matters worse, Cristian Chivu saw a straight red card near the end, adding more complications.
The door, ajar for Milan. With this setback, the advantage over its eternal rival is reduced to eight points. Milan visits Lazio this Sunday with the opportunity to close the gap. Serie A, which seemed decided, has excitement again.
Persecutors do not forgive
While Inter slows down, the others accelerate. Napoli came back against Lecce (2-1) with goals from Hoejlund and Politano to move nine points behind the leader. They show that they don’t plan to give up.
For its part, Juventus remains firm in fourth place. Jeremie Boga, one of the additions of the winter market, scored again and gave three key points against Udinese (1-0).
And Atalanta? Beyond the stolen point in Milan, they showed a very different side to the 6-1 loss suffered against Bayern Munich. This Wednesday they visit Germany for the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 with a different attitude.
The conclusion is clear: nothing is written. Inter have the title in their hands, but they must find their best version quickly. Discipline and mentality, now more than ever, will be key. The Italian league gives us another exciting final sprint.
