Family unity or ‘toxicity’? The debate generated by Andrea and Erik
Three years after announcing their separation, Andrea Legarreta and Erik Rubín continue to make headlines for how they handle their parenthood. This Easter, the former couple embarked on a trip to the United States with their two daughters, Mía and Nina.
As is their custom, they shared photos on social networks from places like Walt Disney World. In a publication, Rubín wrote: “Being happy in the brave world”. A message that, in theory, should be harmless.
But the internet never sleeps. And this time, several followers decided that this display of family unity was, in fact, problematic.
“This is not maturity, it is attachment and the current partners of both deserve respect”
“I see this family unit as very toxic, as if it didn’t want to let go”
The main argument: both have rebuilt their lives with new partners. Why continue traveling together? For some users, this blurs boundaries and disrespects their current relationships.
The curious thing is that Legarreta had already clarified this point. In statements to the press, he said that both had invited their respective partners, but that they could not attend due to work commitments.
Still, the criticism persisted. Comments like “Let it go, Andrea” or “This is already an antics” flooded the publications. Meanwhile, close friends like Grettel Valdéz and Yahir left messages of support.
Here’s the crux of the matter: Are we really seeing a toxic dynamic? Or simply two adults who prioritize the well-being of their daughters over what they will say?
What began as an innocent family vacation ended up becoming another chapter in the eternal public debate about how famous ex-couples should behave. And meanwhile, Mia and Nina probably just wanted to enjoy Mickey Mouse.
