When television gets spicy (or at least it tries to)
Ah, soap operas. That parallel universe where lovers swear eternity between tears of waterproof mascara and villains have more personality changes than an influencer in crisis. This time, the melodrama gives us a gem: Andrea Legarreta, the eternal host of Hoy, decided that reading the weather forecast was no longer enough adrenaline and threw herself into playing Julia, a character who, according to Televisa standards, is “daring” because… surprise! kisses someone who is not her husband. Scandal in 4K!
The “sacrifice” of acting (with dramatic capital letters)
Fernando Colunga, that heartthrob who seems preserved in formaldehyde since the 90s, could not help but praise Legarreta’s “professionalism.” The reason? He managed to do “racy” scenes (read: two kisses and a hug that would pass as PG-13 on any streaming platform) without fainting. “It’s not easy to join that story and have those scenes released to you,” Colunga said, as if they were filming 50 Shades of Grey and not a soap opera where the biggest transgression is that Julia is unfaithful to her husband with… her friend. What an unexpected twist!
For her part, Andrea confessed that she had a worse time than a vegan at a steakhouse: “I was very distressed,” she admitted, although she did not specify whether because of the plot or because after years of saying “How was your morning?” she had to remember how to act. Of course, her daughters encouraged her. They probably thought: “Mom, you’re finally going to do something more interesting than promoting detox smoothies.”
The “respect” on screen (and the comical winks behind it)
Colunga, in a burst of medieval chivalry, assured that everything was done “with total respect.” Of course, because nothing says “respect” like filming hot scenes with a colleague while the producer shouts “More passion, this is prime time!“. Of course, the actor made it clear that Legarreta is “a lady“, which in novel language means: “You couldn’t see her shoulder, but almost.”
Meanwhile, viewers are wondering: was Julia’s role really so “daring“? Because, let’s be honest, in La Rosa de Guadalupe there are spicier episodes. But hey, let’s celebrate that Andrea left her comfort zone… even if it’s to enter the “whatever it takes for ratings” zone.
