Delivery of facilities and progress in agreements
The faculties of Architecture, Engineering, Economics, and four other departments of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) were returned to the academic authorities during the night of Friday, after the cessation of the student occupation. The institution emphasized that this result was achieved through structured negotiations, highlighting the case of Architecture, where an agreement was established to redesign food services through a participatory contest that will include students, teachers and administrative staff.
Elimination of article 15 and condemnation of violence
The Legislation Commission of the University Council unanimously ratified the suppression of the controversial article 15 of the Regulations of the University Court, which will not come into force due to the express instruction of the rector Leonardo Lomelí. At the same time, the UNAM expressed a strong repudiation of the violent acts recorded around Ciudad Universitaria, reaffirming its commitment to dialogue as a way to resolve conflicts.
“The university community categorically rejects violence, as it violates our principles and the spirit of collaboration that guides us,” the institutional statement stressed.
