Mexico joins in a historic prevention exercise!
This Tuesday, April 29, at 11:30 a.m., the country will experience a key moment for its security: the National Drill 2025 will activate alert systems in 12 states with an impressive network of 14,491 speakers. Laura Velázquez, Civil Protection coordinator, revealed that this test will include SMS messages to 5 million cell phones in CDMX and the metropolitan area. A demonstration of technology at the service of life!
Why does this drill make a difference?
It is not just a routine exercise: it is the second mass test of the cellular alert system, perfected since its first version last September. The hypothesis simulates an 8.1 earthquake with an epicenter in the Gulf of Tehuantepec, testing the response in 89,394 properties and 1,806 registered municipalities. More than 7 million Mexicans will actively participate!
“Every speaker, every message, every second counts,” Velázquez emphasized. The states involved include high seismic risk areas such as Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, CDMX and the State of Mexico, where the culture of prevention saves lives daily.
This drill integrates traditional and digital media simultaneously for the first time: radio stations, television stations and the loudspeaker network will work in unison with mobile technology. A global example of coordination!
