Inter reigns again in Italy!
The Nerazzurri did it again. For the first time in 16 years, Inter Milan wins the double: league and cup. And what a way to close it, with a solid 2-0 against Lazio in the Italian Cup final.
Lautaro Martínez, the captain, was the hero of the night. Not only did he score the second goal, but he led a team that knew how to suffer and celebrate. “Doing the double is very important,” said the Bull after the game. “It wasn’t easy to start again after last year, but we had a great season.”
The road to the double
The match at the Olympic Stadium in Rome had an almost perfect script for Inter. At 14 minutes, a corner by Federico Dimarco ended in an own goal by Adam Marusic. Lazio, who were playing at home, complicated themselves. And before the break, another gift: Nuno Tavares lost the ball to Denzel Dumfries, who assisted Lautaro to push the ball into an empty goal. Easy goal, but deserved.
“What grade would you give to Chivu? Ten out of 10,” Lautaro declared about his coach.
Christian Chivu, in his first season at the helm of Inter, is already a legend. The Romanian, who played in that 2010 team that won the treble, has been able to rebuild the team after the departure of Simone Inzaghi. Last season, Inter was one point behind Napoli in the league, lost in the Cup semi-finals and received a 5-0 defeat by PSG in the Champions League final. This year, the story is different.
Lessons in resilience
This is no coincidence. It’s discipline, mentality and preparation. Inter learned from their mistakes. As in life, sometimes you have to fall to get up stronger. Chivu’s team not only won, but they did so with intensity and character. That’s what sets champions apart.
Lautaro Martínez summed it up perfectly: “I’m happy to finish with another trophy that matters a lot to us.” And yes, it matters. Because the double is not just an achievement, it is a message: Inter is back.
Now, the question is: can they repeat it next year? Because in football, as in life, the real challenge is not to arrive, but to stay. But for now, the Nerazzurri have every right to celebrate. Force Inter!
