Inter Milan did it again! Cristian Chivu’s team secured the Serie A title with a resounding 2-0 victory over Parma, leaving a 12-point lead over Napoli with three games remaining. It is the third Scudetto in six years for the Nerazzurri, but the first they have celebrated at home since 1989. Almost four decades of waiting that ended with fireworks and dancing at the San Siro!
Marcus Thuram opened the scoring just before the break with an unstoppable shot into the corner, past goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. Then, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, at 37 years old, sealed the victory in the 80th minute after an assist from the returned Lautaro Martínez, who returned from injury to celebrate with the fans. Thuram, born in Parma while his dad Lilian played there, summed it up perfectly:
“Since I arrived at Inter, it is a team that loves to stay together — on and off the field — and that is our strength.”
Chivu, in his first year as coach, achieved something special. He replaced Simone Inzaghi and brought fresh energy, as Lautaro said: “He made sure everyone felt involved, even training with a smile.” The team, coming off a painful 5-0 defeat against PSG in the Champions League final last season, showed resilience. Nicolò Barella explained it like this: “That’s football and life. There are difficult moments. You always have to get back on your feet.”
While Inter celebrate, other teams suffer. AC Milan lost 2-0 to 10-man Sassuolo, their fourth defeat in seven games, and are now just two points ahead of Juventus, who drew 1-1 with Hellas Verona. Como, fifth, lurks three points behind fourth place, looking for a ticket to the Champions League. There are three days left and anything can happen.
Inter are already thinking about the Italian Cup final against Lazio in 10 days. But for now, they are enjoying this Scudetto which, as the saying goes in sports, is not just talent: it is discipline, teamwork and learning from falls. That’s what makes this sport great!
