The look that lit up the networks (and no, it wasn’t just because of Meryl)
Ok, let’s talk clearly. The red carpet in Mexico for The Devil Wears Prada 2 had Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. But in networks, the unexpected protagonist was Esteban Macías with red heels that screamed louder than any flash.
The communicator arrived with everything: braid, on-point makeup, painted nails and those shoes. A complete look that, as expected, divided opinions.
“I identify myself as a kind, hard-working, loving, responsible human being”
That was his clear and forceful response when someone asked him—with that suspicious ‘curiosity’—about how he identifies himself. Without detours. Straight to the heart of the matter.
When the comments are filled with hate (and he is filled with grace)
Not all of them were flattery. There was everything: from the typical “you embarrassed us” to questions loaded with prejudice. But Esteban has tough skin and quick humor.
To those who questioned her ability to walk in heels, she gave the best advice in the world:
“Practice at home like me hahaha”
And he reminded the person who criticized without a profile photo of the basic rules of the internet: first you show your face, then you give your opinion.
For him, these comments come from “retrograde people”. It’s not the first time she’s faced ridicule for her looks, and it probably won’t be the last. But there she is, with her heels on and her style intact.
The interesting thing is to see how, amidst the euphoria for the Hollywood stars, a part of the Mexican public turned to support their bravery. Because in the end, beyond the costumes or makeup, it’s about that: having the courage to be yourself in front of everyone.
While Meryl and Anne made headlines, Esteban gave us a small but powerful lesson on fashion, identity and how to respond to haters with class… and a spectacular pair of shoes.
