Epstein’s story comes to streaming with Laura Dern
The case that shook the world—and that continues to raise more questions than answers—is about to have its own fictional version. According to Variety, Sony Pictures Television is developing a miniseries based on the book Perversion of Justice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story, by journalist Julie K. Brown.
And here comes the interesting thing: Laura Dern will not only produce the project, but will play Brown herself. That journalist whose work was key to reactivating investigations into the abuse network.
The production will be based on the book “Perversion of Justice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story”, by journalist Julie K. Brown.
There is still no release date, confirmed platform or more names in the cast. But we do know that Adam McKay and Kevin Messick (Succession, The Big Short) are involved through their company Hyperobject Industries.
Why does this series matter?
It would be the first dramatized adaptation of the scandal that linked politicians, artists and even members of royalty. A delicate subject if ever there was one.
The million-dollar question: how to tell such a dark story without falling into sensationalism? With Dern and McKay behind them, there is at least hope that it will be treated with the rigor—and humanity—it deserves.
