Jordan Carrillo chooses to stay at Pumas
After the surprising resignation of Efraín Juárez as coach of Pumas, the future of several players was left up in the air. However, one of them has already made a decision: Jordan Carrillo wants to remain in the university club.
The Mexican winger, who plays on loan from Santos Laguna, informed the Laguna board of his intention not to return. His first semester with the Auriazules was productive: 24 games, six goals and three assists.
The sports vice president of Pumas, Antonio Sancho, is already negotiating with Santos to buy Carrillo’s letter. The player gave the go-ahead to become a definitive asset of Club Universidad.
It should be remembered that Juárez left the bench due to differences with the board in assembling the squad for Apertura 2026. His stage lasted 15 months: 60 games, 24 wins, 19 draws and 17 losses. He achieved second place in the Clausura 2026 and returned the intensity to the team.
Now, Pumas is looking for a new coach against the clock. The university board is working to find a replacement before returning to the preseason. Carrillo’s permanence is a first step to stabilize the project.
