The Devil’s tour starts where art and fashion meet
The tour to promote The Devil Wears Prada 2 couldn’t start anywhere. He did it in Frida Kahlo’s Blue House, in Mexico City. A perfect nod where style and culture go hand in hand.
Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway were there, along with Mexican actresses Regina Blandón and Yalitza Aparicio. The message was clear from the first frame: this is more than just a movie.
An off-screen parade
Because, let’s be honest, we all came to see the looks. And boy did they deliver.
Anne Hathaway arrived in a black Schiaparelli dress that had a gold sculptural detail in the center. Retro glasses and deep red lips completed the picture. It was Andy Sachs, but with a decade more experience and a much bigger budget.
“The result is a style that plays between the classic and the conceptual,” they noted from the event, “perfect for a cultural setting like the Blue House.”
Meryl Streep, for her part, reaffirmed why she is Miranda Priestly. He arrived wearing a tailored suit in a vibrant red that screamed authority from the rooftops. The outfit, with a bow blouse and discreet accessories, was pure elegance measured to the millimeter.
That they chose Mexico and Frida Kahlo’s house-museum to start is no coincidence. It talks about a film that wants to connect fashion, art and identity from minute one.
Almost twenty years after the original, the sequel arrives in a world where the industry has changed. But the impact of these characters remains intact. The conversation between fashion and culture has just been renewed.
