Andy Sachs returns, and this time with more Prada (and drama)
Finally, the definitive confirmation that a film exists: an official photo. What a relief! Because, of course, in Hollywood movies are only real when someone uploads an image to Instagram. And so, with the solemnity of a historical document, we get the first snapshot of Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada 2. Will she be wearing heels? A designer dress? Or maybe a frustrated journalist costume? Spoiler: yes.
The Oscar-winning actress (in case anyone had forgotten) and 20th Century Studios decided to share this visual gem to celebrate the start of filming. Because nothing says “celebration” like a photo of someone leaning against a wall, smiling as if they don’t know that the world of cinema is in crisis. David Frankel directs this sequel, with a script by Aline Brosh McKenna, who surely had to write something deeper than “Miranda Priestly is still terrifying.”
The cast: Who survived the fad?
Hathaway doesn’t come alone. Returning are Meryl Streep (because, obviously, without her this would be like decaffeinated coffee), Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, the only human being capable of making the fashion industry look adorable. And to add more stars to the firmament, they join Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak and Pauline Chalamet. What will they do? Nobody knows. Does it matter? Neither. The only relevant thing is that there will be expensive suits and murderous looks.
In the first film, Andy Sachs was an innocent aspiring journalist who ended up being the slave of Miranda Priestly, the Runway editor who could melt ice with a single look. Now, according to Variety, the plot (if there is one) will follow Miranda “as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazines.” I mean, we’ll see Streep destroy computers and yell at millennials who don’t know what a print magazine is. Pure art.
The sequel, produced by 20th Century Studios and Disney, will hit theaters on May 1, 2026. Just in time for us all to wonder: did we really need this? But, hey, at least there will be ridiculously expensive outfits.
Ready for more fashion and drama? Share this news and get ready for the return of Miranda Priestly. Because the devil not only dresses in fashion, he also has sequels!
