The curtain falls for a protagonist of violence
The Guerrero Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of Christian “N”, alias El Piter. The authorities point it out as a priority objective and one of the main generators of violence in the port. His arrest is not an isolated scene, but the climax of a very violent act.
Attorney General Zipacná Torres considered it “a priority objective and one of the generators of violence in the port.”
The accusation is serious: attempted homicide, property damage and vehicle theft. But his role would be much greater. A tax source confirmed this Monday that El Piter is identified as the alleged head of the alliance between the Independent Cartel of Acapulco (Cida) and the CJNG.
An arrest in the midst of chaos
His capture occurred in an explosive context. It was during the violent reaction after the death of the CJNG leader, Rubén Nemesio Oseguera, by the Army in Jalisco.
In Acapulco, that reaction included:
- The burning of four vehicles.
- An armed attack on the Ministerial Police headquarters.
- A previous attack on Public Ministry facilities in July, which the prosecution also attributes to him.
The effect on the city was devastating. Acapulco was paralyzed. Public transportation was suspended, hundreds of businesses closed out of fear and thousands of people were stranded in the streets. Daily life, once again, hostage to the conflict.
Now, with El Piter behind bars, the question that always follows the arrest of a drug lord remains: will this calm the waters or will it just be the prologue to the next act? In the theater of organized violence, there are rarely happy endings.
