English comeback in Miami

England secured their place in the semi-finals after beating Norway 2-1. The match, played at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, was directed by Frenchman Clément Turpin. The English started losing but managed to come back with two goals from Jude Bellingham.

Andreas Schjelderup opened the scoring in the 36th minute. The Benfica player sent a cross that was closed and surprised goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. Norway took the lead in a moment of balance on the field.

The game went to extra time. Already in extra time, Turpin awarded a penalty in favor of England, but after consulting the VAR, he reversed the decision. Shortly after, Bellingham scored his second goal, giving his team the victory.

England awaits an opponent for Wednesday’s semifinal in Atlanta. That ticket will come from the duel between Argentina, current champion, and Switzerland, which closed the quarterfinals in Kansas City. Norway, which reached the quarterfinals for the first time, was eliminated after a match where it dominated in several passages but failed to achieve.
