Susana and Elvira: friendship without competition comes to Netflix

Mabel Moreno explains how the character of Elvira transformed her vision of women and friendship.

The return of Susana and Elvira

Mabel Moreno once again put herself in the shoes of Elvira, a character that not only marked her career, but also transformed her way of understanding women. The Colombian actress speaks enthusiastically about the film “Susana y Elvira: Sin plan B”, which is now available on Netflix.

The story began in 2008 as a blog written by María Fernanda Moreno and Marcela Peláez. Then came the books, a web series and now a movie. In this new installment, Susana and Elvira, two friends separated years ago, must meet again to organize a wedding.

“Today, women at 40 have the money, we still have the youth, the desire, the energy, the strength, the depth; we are less afraid to talk about what is happening to us and where we are going,” says Moreno in an interview.

For the actress, the success of this story lies in the fact that it shows real characters, far from the perfection that used to dominate female stories. The public seeks to see itself reflected in women with doubts and contradictions.

“Elvira was a woman who gave me a lot of understanding of women in general and interest in the feminine world… From then on I felt that all my characters had to communicate something to women,” she remembers.

The film breaks the cliché that women are meant to compete with each other. Instead, celebrate friendship as the most important love.

“The beautiful thing about this film is that, although it is a romantic comedy, it is not a woman looking for love as a couple. It is a woman who has already found love in her best friend,” she explains.

With almost two decades of history, Susana and Elvira demonstrate that audiences value authentic stories about mature women who live without labels.

Paris Jackson demands transparency in Michael Jackson’s inheritance

Paris Jackson opposes keeping documents from her father's estate confidential.

Paris Jackson’s legal battle

Paris Jackson, daughter of the late Michael Jackson, intensifies her dispute with the executor of the estate. The singer objects to John Branca keeping documents related to the fees for administering the inheritance confidential.

Paris has expressed its disagreement since 2025. It considers that it has had limited access to financial information, which is why it demands greater transparency.

The numbers of discord

The model also maintains that Branca and the late John McClain received more than $120 million for their management. A figure that, according to her, contrasts with what she and her two brothers have received since 2009.

Executors say Jackson’s three children have received millions in benefits. But Paris remembers that it has already obtained a favorable ruling to prevent extraordinary payments to external legal firms.

Now, the Los Angeles court ordered that the executors’ lawyers submit financial reports from 2019 to 2024 by September 15. Paris asks that Branca’s request for confidentiality be rejected, whom he accuses of prioritizing his reputation over inheritance.

Giovanni Medina: the man must be a provider in the relationship

Giovanni Medina defends his position on the male role in dating after the criticism received.

Giovanni Medina has a very clear vision about what it means to be a man in a loving relationship. And he does not hesitate to express it, even when his words generate controversy. Irina Baeva’s current boyfriend was questioned about the conflict between Gabriel Soto and his ex-partner, Ana Carla Sinclair, and he not only gave his opinion, but left a firm position.

It all started when Sinclair claimed in various media that she was Soto’s girlfriend and that for a year and a half he treated her son as part of the family. The actor exercised his right of reply, but Medina went further.

The concept of supplier

Captured at the CDMX airport by the program “Venga la salud”, Medina explained that for him the man must assume a role of care and provision towards his partner.

“For me, the concept of a man is a role of provider, of projector.”

She clarified that it is not a sexist position or belittling the capabilities of women. He simply believes that it is still important to show care through protection and sustenance.

“And I don’t want to say that women can’t, but we have to work hard so that when someone goes out with us, they come out happy, as well as with the smile they saw (Irina),” she said.

His statements caused annoyance in Sinclair and criticism on social networks, where many considered a lack of respect towards his ex-partner. But Medina remains firm.

He took the opportunity to flatter Irina Baeva: “I, to her, am very grateful, I trust her, that is not easy; today, she is the woman of my life.”

The controversy remains open, while the public debates whether his vision is a gesture of chivalry or a reflection of old schemes.

Pedro Sola visits animal shelter after controversial statements

He visited a shelter after statements that generated criticism on social networks.

An experience that moved him

Pedro Sola, host of Ventaneando, went to the Yaakunah animal rehabilitation center days after unleashing a wave of criticism for his comments about dogs in public spaces. In the July 17 broadcast, a capsule of the visit was shown. Alone, accompanied by Linet Puente, Ximena Pérez “La Choco” and Mónica Castañeda, lived with rescued animals.

The driver confessed that it was the first time he had set foot in a shelter. “It was a very peculiar experience because curiously when there are dogs around me, they don’t come close to me. I think they smell me because I’m not affectionate,” he said. He added that he is not afraid of them, but coexistence generated “strange” sensations.

Mónica Castañeda taught him how to approach: let the dogs smell him. “Everyone was very affectionate, calm. They didn’t even bark,” he recalled. He learned stories of animals rescued from abandonment or abuse. “It gave me a lot of emotion, I was close to crying twice, but I held back,” he said.

TV Azteca’s response

The visit occurred after TV Azteca announced an animal welfare awareness program for its teams. In a statement read by Pati Chapoy on July 16, the television station stated: “We firmly believe in animal protection and respect for all living beings.” He clarified that Sola’s statements do not represent his values.

The controversy broke out when Sola expressed her annoyance at the presence of dogs in stores, supermarkets and restaurants. Some phrases were considered offensive by protective associations and public figures. He later offered a public apology.

Regarding the controversy, the driver said: “It has been tremendous for me.” Now, his visit to the shelter seeks to show a different position and approach to animal care.
