The president does not mince words
Claudia Sheinbaum issued a warning that echoed in the National Palace: Mexicans who cross the border to speak ill of the government better not think about returning. “They have no future in Mexico or in the United States,” the president said, with that tone that we already know from her.
What’s behind this?
According to Sheinbaum, there are small groups—both on the American side and on our side—that dream of seeing a bilateral relationship torn apart. But, he says, “they are going to be left wanting.” No wonder: the context is that of a neighbor to the north who, although noisy, until now has been “very respectful” with her, in his own words.
“There will be some on that side of the United States and on this side who do not want there to be a good relationship between both governments, but I am sure that they will be left wanting”
The positive side of the matter
The president also highlighted that the Trump government is recognizing something key: arms trafficking from the US to Mexico must be stopped. Because, let’s be honest, these weapons do not end up alone in the hands of criminal groups. And that, says Sheinbaum, is a step toward not strengthening those who do harm.
And ours?
Sheinbaum was clear: her government has always demanded that Washington protect its compatriots. “Respecting our sovereignty, our laws, our territory,” he stressed. But the underlying message is that, if someone is going to complain there, they should know that the doors are closed here.
This is not just diplomacy. It is political theater with real consequences. And Sheinbaum, like a good protagonist, leaves no room for doubt.
