The legal process for custody
Singer Chris Brown is seeking joint custody of his 4-year-old daughter, after the child’s mother, Diamond Brown, asked a Los Angeles court that the artist only have visitation rights.
Diamond filed a petition in May seeking sole legal and physical custody of the girl. In his proposal, he proposed that Chris Brown only have a visitation regime.
The interpreter responded by asking for shared legal and physical custody, in addition to both parents assuming the costs of the legal process. Diamond’s petition included that point, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
The situation escalated after Diamond made comments on social media against the singer, accusing him of interfering in their romantic relationship. Chris Brown’s current partner, Jada Wallace, responded by pointing out that Diamond makes contact between the artist and his daughter difficult.
Diamond even hinted at being willing to confront Jada, which led to more tension.
Chris Brown is a father of three children. In addition to the 4-year-old daughter, he has a 12-year-old daughter and another 6-year-old son from previous relationships.
The tense atmosphere between the parties could complicate the custody process.
