Full throttle! Sheinbaum signs decrees for express investment and clean energy
President Claudia Sheinbaum wasted no time. He signed a package of decrees that promise to change the country’s economic game. The objective: for investments to arrive faster, with less paperwork and more green energy. All under the umbrella of Plan México.
“Today we announce that we are accelerating processes, simplifying mechanisms, and strengthening legal certainty,” said Sheinbaum from the National Museum of Anthropology. “Every policy, every decision, every investment is designed so that development reaches every corner of the country.”
What exactly was signed?
- Immediate authorization of investments: Projects that meet certain requirements (such as being in a Development Pole or investing at least 2 billion pesos) will have the green light in less than 30 days.
- Single Window for Foreign Trade: A single entry point for procedures, with a Single File to avoid repeating documents.
- Simplification of Cofepris: From 340 procedures to only 125. The requirements are reduced from 14 to 7, and the waiting time is reduced from 100 to 24 days.
- Renewable energy: The private production of 5 thousand MW from clean sources is authorized. In addition, the CFE will launch 13 new plants and 4 more tendered ones, adding 11 thousand MW of renewable energy.
- Investment in infrastructure: Banobras announced 523 thousand million pesos for roads: 44 projects that total 5,100 km and will generate 1.4 million jobs.
The drama behind the decision
There are no coincidences here. Sheinbaum is responding to a clear demand from the private sector: “What can we do now to make investment flow?” they asked. And the answer was this combo of measures.
The Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrath, summed it up like this: “They are immediate actions to accelerate investments, expand economic activities and create jobs.”
And the bureaucracy?
The Presidential Investment Office and an Investment Committee are created that will issue a certificate in a maximum of 30 days. For private investments, the limit is 90 days for all federal procedures.
In addition, the National Law for the Elimination of Bureaucratic Procedures and a digital simplification model will be implemented that will standardize requirements between states and municipalities.
The human touch
Sheinbaum didn’t just talk about numbers. He recalled that behind every policy is the well-being of families: “That in every job that is generated, in every company that grows, in every family that lives with greater well-being is the true meaning of the effort.”
His wife, a teacher, and his teenage daughters remind him that politics is not a parlor game. It’s people’s real lives. And this plan, he says, is so that no one is left behind.
Shared Prosperity, they call it. And with these decrees, the pieces begin to move.
