The Colombian conquers the heart of CDMX (and its surrounding streets)
This afternoon, Shakira showed that her drawing power is still intact. The capital’s Zócalo was declared full from 6 in the afternoon, long before the show began. The giant screens in Madero were already transmitting the message: “Place full.”
The solution? A logistical operation worthy of a massive festival. In order not to leave anyone out, the concert is being broadcast in real time at strategic points throughout the center.
The screens to see Shakira are located at strategic points such as Madero, Pino Suárez, Juárez Avenue and Monument to the Revolution.
That is, if you didn’t manage to sneak among the lucky ones inside the perimeter, you can still live the (almost) complete experience. All you have to do is find a screen and a little space in the crowd.
The prelude was a party (and controlled chaos)
Hours before, the surrounding streets were a sea of fans standing in endless lines. The anticipation was palpable, the atmosphere electric. Everyone was going through security checks, eager to see the artist live.
The capital police had to close the passage in Madero and Eje Central to prevent more people from trying to crowd the main esplanade. A necessary control for an event of this magnitude.
In the end, it is a Sunday where Shakira not only occupies the Zócalo, but a good part of the historic center. A reminder that when the music is good, the whole city comes together.
