Morena promotes impeachment against Maru Campos
Local deputies from Morena requested the General Secretariat of the Congress of Chihuahua to initiate a political trial against Governor Maru Campos. The request is related to the presence of CIA agents in the entity, who died on April 19 after an anti-drug operation.
Eleven Morenoist legislators signed the request, including Edin Cuauhtémoc Estrada, Magdalena Rentería, Leticia Ortega and Óscar Daniel Avitia. The national leader of Morena, Ariadna Montiel, had asked local deputies on May 12 to promote this action against the president.
On May 16, Morena organized a march against Campos, accusing her of attacking national sovereignty by allowing US agents to participate in the operation. Local authorities were looking to dismantle a drug laboratory when the incident occurred.
The impeachment trial seeks to determine whether the governor violated the Constitution by authorizing the intervention of foreigners in security work. So far, the Chihuahua government has not issued an official position on the request.
