The chip fell to the governor
The PT bench in San Lázaro dropped the bomb: they want impeachment against Maru Campos, governor of Chihuahua. The reason? Allowing CIA, FBI, DEA and CBP agents to operate in the state without the approval of the federal government. For the PT members, that is “treason to the country.”
“The state government incurred contradictions by initially recognizing foreign collaboration, and then minimizing it,” said Reginaldo Sandoval, coordinator of the PT.
Be careful with this fact: this is not a simple slap on the wrist. It is a process that can remove her if the Senate finds violations of the Constitution. Sandoval supported Sheinbaum and his defense of sovereignty: “Allowing this weakens the Mexican State,” he warned.
But not everything is consensus. Ricardo Monreal, leader of Morena in Deputies, said that the PT has the right to ask for it, but he is against it. “This is resolved through diplomacy, with dialogue,” he stated. He wants to avoid internal tensions while the country faces external factors.
What’s missing? Know if the Senate takes the bait or files it as a smokescreen. History has taught us that when powers clash like this, there is always something else under the table.
