“I will continue to lead Morena,” clarifies Luisa María Alcalde
The national leader of Morena, Luisa María Alcalde, came to the fore. In the midst of the political rumor mill that suggested her possible departure, she herself recorded a video to cut off speculation. His message was clear and direct: he does not plan to leave.
“My permanence in the leadership would only be in doubt if there was a direct request from President Claudia Sheinbaum,” he stated.
In other words, put the cards on the table. Its continuity depends on a single factor: what the Chief Executive says. As long as there is no that call, she stays. A nod of institutional loyalty, but also a reminder of who is really in charge.
The fault lies with the ‘others’
Mayor did not mince words in pointing out culprits. He attributed the rumors to misinformation campaigns promoted by political opponents. According to her, they seek to paint a picture of internal divisions and disagreements in the Morenoist leadership to weaken the movement.
But it went further. He criticized that some speeches resort to machismo to interpret political decisions within the party. He mentioned versions about an “alleged intervention from Palenque” (allusion to López Obrador) and described them as unfounded narratives. A low blow to certain media analyses, without a doubt.
In the end, he thanked President Sheinbaum for her public support and reiterated his commitment. The message is sent: Morena is a “strong and united” movement, at least officially. Now it’s time to see if the facts prove him right or if this video was just a temporary patch.
