Not even being Spider-Man saves him from anonymity. Tom Holland, protagonist of the spider saga on film, said a couple of years ago on The Tonight Show that he tried to invite Erling Haaland to dinner. He never got a response.
The meeting occurred at the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix. Holland, a football fan, recognized the Manchester City forward and sent him a message to propose a meal. The silence was total. “That’s the kind of humbling experience,” the actor joked.
The story took a turn when Haaland admitted, on the Norwegian program A-laget, that he did not know who Tom Holland was. “I didn’t return the message because I didn’t know him,” he confessed.
Passes canceled and dinner pending
Now, after Norway’s elimination from the World Cup, Haaland seems more willing to settle accounts. On social networks, the footballer responded to a video from Jimmy Fallon’s show that recalled the anecdote. His message was clear:
“I accept @tomholland2013’s dinner invitation. A little late. Just tell me the place!”
The publication accumulates thousands of reactions. Holland has yet to respond publicly, but fans are speculating about a possible date between the superhero and the goalscorer.
