On Friday afternoon, Cold Front number 32 entered the municipality, which will generate a north wind event with gusts of up to 35 kilometers per hour during the afternoon and that could intensify up to 55 kilometers per hour at night and early morning, reported the director of Municipal Civil Protection, Alma Fuertes.
Faced with this scenario, the official urged the population to take extreme preventive measures, especially to avoid lighting a fire, since the gusts of wind could fan it and cause incidents. Likewise, it recommended securing or protecting loose objects such as sheets, light structures, cables or other materials that can be lifted by the wind and represent a risk to people or homes.
Alma Fuertes indicated that starting this Saturday a decrease in temperatures will begin to be perceived, derived from the establishment of an arctic air mass associated with this cold front, conditions that could prevail until Sunday or Monday of next week. Therefore, he asked citizens to dress appropriately, avoid sudden changes in temperature and go out well protected, using several layers of clothing.
He also recommended staying well hydrated and, if using heating systems with stoves or fire, turning them off before sleeping and properly ventilating the spaces to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
Likewise, the presence of humidity, light rain of between 5 and 10 millimeters is expected, as well as the characteristic chipi-chipi and fog banks, which is why Civil Protection requested extreme caution when driving, traveling at low speed and using lights, especially in areas with reduced visibility.
Finally, the director of Municipal Civil Protection called for citizen co-responsibility to take care of themselves and prevent risks, reiterating that these actions are fundamental for the well-being of all Xalapeños.
