Investigation without substantial progress
The head of the Specialized Regional Control Prosecutor’s Office, David Boone de la Garza, acknowledged that the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) does not have sufficient evidence about possible links of the licensed governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, with the Sinaloa Cartel.
During the conference by prosecutor Ernestina Godoy Ramos, Boone assured that the investigation against the Morena official and others accused by the United States Department of Justice—among them Senator Enrique Inzunza Cázares—continues exhaustively. However, no elements have been obtained that meet the minimum standard required by Mexican law.
“There has been no evidence, specifically to respond in the sense of the minimum evidentiary parameter required by Mexican law,” he declared.
The official explained that the Federal Public Ministry interviewed the ten people requested by the United States and received reports and reports. The review is rigorous, he said.
“They summoned the 10 people, reports have been received, the investigation has been very exhaustive,” he explained.
He added that the chief prosecutor and the special prosecutor for complex cases maintain the conviction of being exhaustive. Until now, no formal charges have been filed in Mexico against Rocha Moya for these allegations.
