The shielding from the National Palace
Omar García Harfuch came out and dropped the bomb: there is not a single clue that links the former governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, to organized crime. Thus, directly, during a conference in Culiacán. The Secretary of Security was blunt: they never detected obstructions to security work by the licensed president. Does this contradict the statements of the United States? It seems so.
The strategy: federal control and a firm hand
The head of the SSPC made it clear that security in Sinaloa is a federal matter, without room for doubt. The visit of the security cabinet sought to strengthen coordination with the interim governor, Yeraldine Bonilla Valverde, who took the reins after the temporary departure of Rocha Moya. This is not a whim: there have already been 14 meetings in months to confront the violence unleashed by the internal war of the Sinaloa Cartel. The objective, according to Harfuch, is to strengthen the institutional presence and, in the process, guarantee that people can live in peace.
Preventive measures, not threats
Regarding the former governor, the official revealed that he was assigned a small group of bodyguards as a preventive measure after a risk assessment. But be careful: he clarified that there is no information of direct threats against him. It is more of a precautionary shield than a response to a specific danger. Meanwhile, President Claudia Sheinbaum ordered to maintain a permanent presence in Sinaloa and work closely with state authorities. The message is clear: the federal government is not going to withdraw, and the safety of the population is the priority.
“We have no information that links the former governor to organized crime,” said García Harfuch, clearing up doubts about the former president.
