The fever for the release of Grand Theft Auto VI has a dark side. Kaspersky detected multiple fraud campaigns that take advantage of expectation to compromise devices and steal personal information.

Attackers use fake pre-sales, supposed beta versions, and deceptive cryptocurrency tokens. According to the firm, the increase in reports began just after the start of the official pre-sale.

How do they deceive users?

Lisandro Ubiedo, senior analyst at Kaspersky for Latin America, explained the method. Criminals create websites that replicate the game’s visual identity. When entering data for the purchase, the information—names, emails, IDs, and card numbers—is captured. The product never arrives.

Videos are also circulating on social networks with supposed tutorials for downloading beta versions. When these files are executed, malicious programs are installed that operate in the background and facilitate access to personal accounts.

Another modality: portals that promote apocryphal cryptoassets using the brand image without authorization. This causes financial losses for investors.

Recommendations to avoid fraud

Kaspersky recommends purchasing content only from official channels. Verify URLs before entering sensitive data. Use virtual cards or prepaid methods for online transactions. And be wary of links with alleged leaks shared on digital platforms.

This Wednesday morning, Instagram users reported problems accessing the social network. The most common difficulties: the feed did not load, direct messages were not sent or received, and in some cases it was not possible to log in. The incident was replicated both in Mexican territory and in other nations.

According to Downdetector, the first reports in Mexico began around 6:00 a.m. The peak of complaints was recorded at 8:45, with 280 reports. The platform, which collects incidents reported by users themselves, showed an unusual increase during that period.

The figures from the reports

Downdetector monitoring indicates that 62% of complaints refer to failures in the mobile application. 28% are due to connection problems with the server, while 7% report difficulties loading the feed. Among the recurring comments are also direct messages that do not appear or cannot be sent, a situation that users from various regions reported.

The cities with the highest concentration of reports were Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Querétaro and Ensenada. So far, Meta has not officially communicated the cause of the failures. In these types of incidents, the platform usually restores its services without the need for user intervention.

After months of speculation, OpenAI unveiled its first hardware device. This is the Codex Micro, a mechanical keyboard designed for programmers who work with the company’s artificial intelligence agent platform.

The device is the result of a collaboration with Work Louder. Includes color-coded keys: blue (processing instructions), orange (requires approval), red (error), and green (unread conversation). It also features customizable command keys, a joystick for navigating workflows, and a knob for adjusting time and computing power.

According to OpenAI, this keyboard is “your control center for autonomous work with agents.” It allows you to monitor agent activity in real time without having to look at your computer or mobile phone.

Availability and price

The Codex Micro is available from July 15. It is a limited edition, aimed exclusively at programmers. Its price is $230 and it is sold on the official OpenAI website.

Bloomberg reported that OpenAI is preparing five more AI devices for the general public. This release marks its foray into hardware.
