A milestone in tax compliance
The Tax Administration Service (SAT) reported an unprecedented increase in the presentation of annual declarations corresponding to fiscal year 2024, with a total of 11 million 440 thousand 243 documents received. This figure exceeds by 752 thousand 684 the declarations presented in the previous period, which represents a growth of 7%. This data not only reflects greater tax awareness among taxpayers, but also an improvement in the facilitation mechanisms implemented by the tax authority.
Details by type of taxpayer
Of the total declarations, 7 million 938 thousand 510 corresponded to natural persons who requested a favorable balance for the Income Tax (ISR), which means an increase of 6% compared to 2023. This behavior suggests greater efficiency in the refund processes, as well as growing confidence in the tax system.
In addition, the SAT has returned 35,335 million pesos in 2025, 5% more than the previous year. This flow of resources not only directly benefits taxpayers, but also boosts economic activity by injecting liquidity into the market.
Economic implications and recognition
The organization highlighted the importance of this massive compliance, since it strengthens public finances and, therefore, social development and infrastructure programs. In an official statement, the SAT recognized taxpayers who comply with their tax obligations, underlining their key role in building a more solid economy.
This record also demonstrates the success of the awareness campaigns and digital tools implemented in recent years, such as pre-declaration and the tax mailbox, which simplify the process for users.
Future perspectives
Fiscal policy experts point out that this sustained growth in compliance could translate into increased revenue and, potentially, adjustments to tax rates or tax benefits. However, they warn that maintaining this trend will require continuing with transparency and administrative ease strategies.
