They demand payment of resources for the sale of assets
Former workers of the defunct Mexicana de Aviación warned that they will begin mobilizations at airports, government offices and public events if the federal government does not meet their demand for payment of pending resources. These funds come from the sale of the airline’s brand and assets.
In a letter addressed to President Claudia Sheinbaum and the head of the Ministry of National Defense, the former employees demanded the immediate dispersion of the resources obtained. They consider that this money should cover historical debts with the workers.
The dissenters accused unfulfilled promises. They described the announcements about a second stage of payments as “farce”. They pointed out that the delay in the delivery of resources is “deliberate and cruel”, which has increased discontent.
While the government maintains operations and expenses of the new state airline, the resources to liquidate former employees are not provided. They consider this a contradiction in the State’s labor policy. Mobilizations could include blockades and peaceful protests.
