The price of lies
The Lax Constructora firm has just received an expensive lesson. The Anti-Corruption Secretariat imposed a fine of 189,170 pesos on her and, more importantly, disqualified her for four months from participating in any contract with the federal government.
The reason? Present false information. Not once, but in two different procedures to obtain maintenance work at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport.
Investigations indicate that the company provided false information in two tenders linked to Airport maintenance services.
The contest numbers are a bureaucratic tongue twister: LA-07-HZI-007HZI999-N-64-2025 and LA-07-HZI-007HZI999-N-79-2025. Both for the same type of architectural service.
A certificate that certified nothing
The specific trick was to present a false certificate on labor equality. With that paper they sought to fulfill a requirement (the NMX-R-025-SCFI-2025 standard) that they never really obtained.
That is why the sanction was not symbolic. The company is already listed in the Directory of Sanctioned Suppliers and Contractors, a public blacklist. The resolution was notified on January 27 and published in the Official Gazette on February 6.
The Secretariat, headed by Raquel Buenrostro, defends the measure. He assures that he acted in accordance with the law and considering “the seriousness of the offense.” Of course, they recognize that Lax Constructora can challenge the decision.
If this is done, the Secretariat will defend the sanction in accordance with the law and protecting the public interest.
Four months out of business with the government. It’s a low blow, but a calculated one. The message is clear: playing dirty in tenders has real consequences. For now.
