The official version versus the bloody reality
Again. Three new executions by gunfire in Culiacán, one of them a 24-year-old woman. Dulce Rosalina “N” was found without vital signs inside a parked car. The authorities arrived, verified the obvious and notified the Prosecutor’s Office. The protocol, the one that they like to mention so much in press conferences.
At the north exit, near the Mexico-Nogales highway, the body of David “N”, 34 years old, was found. Bullet impacts. The experts collected evidence for that investigation folder that will probably add to some forgotten archive. How many open folders equal one arrested culprit? The math of horror never adds up.
While walking with a backpack on his shoulder through the San Isidro subdivision, Isaac “N”, 36 years old, was intercepted and shot. The attackers left calmly. No rush. Like someone finishing a routine task.
What the statement does not say
A fourth man was attacked while driving his vehicle. He was shot in the arm and survived. Luck, or poor aim, as the only differentiating factor between a deadly statistic and a medical report.
Meanwhile, far from the official deployment, the women of the collective “Sabuesos Guerreras” were doing the work that the State is unable to do: in a field near the Livestock Fair they located human remains and damaged clothing. They assume he is a man.
The activists found what the patrols are not looking for.
Three confirmed dead, one injured and remains to be identified. An ordinary day in the capital of Sinaloa. The authorities promise to investigate. Family members cry. The headlines pass. And tomorrow will be another day.
