Incident shocks Guadalupe
A minor of approximately nine months was left under deception at a street food stand in front of the Guadalupe Maternal and Child Hospital, Nuevo León. The events occurred last Friday, although the Attorney General’s Office was notified until the next day.
Details of the deception
According to testimonies collected by authorities, a woman who identified herself as Valeria approached the 20-year-old employee of the store, asking her to take care of the infant while she carried out a procedure at the medical center. The young woman agreed after receiving a contact telephone number.
Hours later, when the supposed mother did not return, the worker tried to communicate. Valeria responded assuring her prompt arrival, but she never appeared. Given the situation, the young woman moved the baby to her home in Escobedo and notified her family.
Protection protocols activated
The Escobedo Victim Care Unit took on the case and referred the minor to the Municipal Ombudsman for the Protection of Children and Adolescents. A medical examination confirmed that the baby had no physical injuries or signs of abuse.
The State Investigation Agency has begun the search for the woman involved, whose intentions and real connection with the minor remain under investigation. The authorities are analyzing security cameras and hospital records to clarify the reasons for the abandonment.
Legal and social context
This case reopens the debate on support mechanisms for mothers in crisis. In Mexico, the Attention Modules for the Reception of Girls and Boys allow minors to be handed over anonymously without legal consequences, an alternative that avoids risk situations like this.
Child protection experts emphasize the importance of information campaigns about these resources, especially in areas with high rates of socioeconomic vulnerability.
