When reality surpasses the script of any soap opera
Now life does imitate art, but in its saddest and most surreal version. In Escobedo, Nuevo León, a cleaning employee came across a “little gift” that no one would expect to find on her morning shift: a newborn stuffed in a plastic bag, as if it were a sandwich forgotten in the lunch box. Of course, with zero glamor and all the drama of an episode of Grey’s Anatomy but without the emotional soundtrack.
The discovery that no one asked for
The scene occurred at the Sukarne company (yes, the meat company, because irony always arrives served on a platter). The worker, who just wanted to do her job without any problems, opened the bathroom door and surprise!: there was the little girl, abandoned as if it were a New Year’s resolution in mid-January. Immediately, the “someone do something” protocol was activated, calling paramedics and police, who arrived faster than an influencer going to an event with an open bar.
The baby was transferred to Clinic 6 of the IMSS, where fortunately she was reported stable. Meanwhile, the Ministerial Police is already in CSI: Escobedo mode, looking for clues to find the person responsible for this act that, no matter how hard you try, has no justification. Reason? Who knows. But what we do know is that there are a thousand ways to avoid an unwanted pregnancy and approximately zero excuses for this.
The dark side of “convenience”
The most outrageous thing is the coldness of the act: a plastic bag, the floor of an industrial bathroom, no trace of humanity. Not even the classic “I didn’t have resources” applies here, because in Mexico there are options such as the Breastfeeding Module or safe delivery in hospitals. But no, someone chose the seedier route, turning a workplace into a crime scene straight out of an episode of Law & Order.
While the authorities search for cameras and testimonies, the rest of us are left with the same question: whose head does it fit? Because, spoiler alert, no explanation is going to be enough. Of course, if there is something positive in this story, it is that the little girl is safe… although karma must already be preparing its move for whoever did this.
