A crime that shocks and exposes fragility
Bernardo Soriano Castro, who previously fought high-impact crimes, was shot this week in La Paz. The most heartbreaking thing: his youngest daughter was with him in the car. The girl, miraculously, was unharmed.
“Violence should not be normalized or left unpunished”, declared the local Coparmex after the event.
The authorities seized the Jeep Wrangler full of bullet holes and 7.62 caliber casings. The autopsy confirmed the obvious: death from multiple gunshot wounds. But as of this noon, not a single detainee. Zero public progress.
The cry of the community that can’t take it anymore
The murder of a former official who knew the system inside set off alarm bells. Canaco La Paz and Coparmex BCS came forward with very harsh statements.
They demand a transparent and diligent investigation. They refuse to normalize these events that hurt the social fabric and scare away any possibility of economic development. His message is clear: without the rule of law, there is no future.
The Autonomous University of BCS, his alma mater, and citizen groups joined the chorus of condolences and demands for justice.
Meanwhile, in the streets of La Paz the painful question remains: if this happens to the person who was supposed to impart justice, what hope is left for the common citizen? The curtain on this political-criminal drama continues to be lowered, with a traumatized girl and a society that cries out for answers.
