The 2026 World Cup final will have a halftime show
FIFA revealed part of the cast for the closing ceremony and the first halftime show in the history of a World Cup. The event will take place on Sunday, July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey.
Among the confirmed participants for the ceremony are Tom Cruise, Robbie Williams, Laura Pausini, Jennifer Hudson and Nicole Scherzinger. Streamer IShowSpeed will also join, reflecting the influence of content creators in global sport.
Jennifer Hudson will perform a special version of the United States national anthem. The singer is a winner of EGOT status (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony).
Artists confirmed for halftime
Unlike previous editions, this final incorporates the American tradition of halftime shows, popularized by the Super Bowl. The regulation break will be extended by 15 minutes. The segment will feature the participation of Shakira, Madonna, BTS, Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Gustavo Dudamel, Burna Boy and the PS22 Choir.
The closing ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. local time (11:30 a.m. central Mexico time), 90 minutes before the opening whistle at 3:00 p.m. The production will be carried out by the Italian company Balich Wonder Studio, with the aim of celebrating the passion and global nature of the tournament.
