The Universidad Veracruzana Foundation (UV Foundation) plans to increase between 10 and 12 percent the number of scholarships it grants to students of the Universidad Veracruzana during this year, as part of a strategy aimed at strengthening school permanence and the academic development of the university community.
This was announced by the general director of the UV Foundation, Facundo Pacheco Rojas, who explained that one of the central axes of the institutional work is the strengthening of the scholarship program, particularly through the alliance with Bécalos, a national agreement that will allow the delivery of support to be intensified throughout the year, after in 2025 it was concentrated in a single semester.
In an interview during an academic forum, Pacheco Rojas pointed out that the Foundation also maintains the granting of food scholarships, an area that faces important challenges due to the growth in the number of university canteens. However, he specified that a regional balance scheme is being promoted, with the objective that each university region generates its own funds to support the beneficiary students.
Regarding infrastructure, he reported that space reorganization work is being carried out, as well as maintenance and adaptation of facilities, in coordination with society and the Veracruzana University, in order to guarantee optimal conditions for the use of the university community.
“Next week the university students formally begin classes and we are prepared to serve them,” he stated.
The general director explained that, when considering the different support programs – school scholarships, Adopt a Scholar, food scholarships and Bécalos scholarships – the UV Foundation annually disperses around 3.5 million pesos, resources that are distributed throughout the year through various support schemes.
Finally, he indicated that the highest concentration of scholarships is registered in the capital region, where nearly 50 percent of the university population is located, followed by the rest of the regions of the state of Veracruz.
