The charrúa claw settles in the Mexican Caribbean!
With 43 days to go until the opening whistle of the 2026 World Cup, Mexico is already warming up. Not only will it host 13 games, but several teams chose us as their base. One of them is Uruguay, which will stay at the prestigious Mayakoba complex in Playa del Carmen. And boy are they ready to receive the charrúa claw!
World class facilities
Luis Durán, general director of RLH Properties, shared the details of how they are preparing at the Fairmont Mayakoba to receive Marcelo Bielsa and his delegation. “We offer the best facilities in any international-class field. We completely renovated our soccer field, which is up to the best standard of any stadium in the world,” he commented proudly. And no wonder: the FIFA authorities have already given the go-ahead.
Why Mayakoba?
The complex beat out options such as Tampa, Atlanta, Boca Raton and Austin. During the World Cup, the light blues will play in Miami against Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde, and at the Akron stadium in Guadalajara against Spain. A heart-stopping duel in the group stage!
Hospitality that makes you fall in love
It is not the first time that Mayakoba receives a team. Portugal already stayed there before the reopening of the Banorte stadium. Durán sums it up like this: “All families enjoy Mexican hospitality. The place is outstanding, the service is the same, and we know that hospitality is what fills our mouths with pride.”
More selections?
Faced with rumors of a possible return from Portugal, now with Cristiano Ronaldo, Durán was clear: the only limitation is that they only have one court. For now, the only confirmed country is Uruguay. But be careful, this is just beginning. The 2026 World Cup promises emotions, and Mexico is ready to be the host that everyone remembers.
