Another door that closes
The public auction to sell Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) as a productive unit was declared void. The Second Commercial Bankruptcy Court made the decision, leaving in the air the possible solution for more than three years of salary debts to the workers.
For them, it was not just another judicial procedure. It was the collapse of a hope that they held dearly.
“We fell apart,” said Carlos Rosales, who worked for 40 years at mill 130. They maintained the illusion that the sale would make it possible to cover the pending payments.
The reality is stark: years without salary, without support. Many have had to invent life day by day to support their families.
Resistance in the camps
Since the bankruptcy of the steel company was declared, a group of employees set up camps at the entrances to the plant in Monclova. Their objective is twofold: to monitor the facilities and demand, with already exhausted patience, compliance with their rights.
Their main demand is clear: the liquidation that corresponds to them by law. They assure that they will not move from there until they receive it.
Meanwhile, the silence of the machines inside the plant contrasts with the quiet but firm resistance outside. Justice takes time, but necessity does not understand judicial deadlines.
