The 2026 World Cup final between Argentina and Spain will close with music. On Sunday, July 19, at the New York Stadium, the halftime show will be performed by Shakira and Burna Boy.
Collaboration with social impact
The Colombian singer will perform “Dai Dai” alongside the Nigerian. They will be accompanied on stage by the children’s dance group Ghetto Kids, originally from Uganda. This group, which was born in marginalized neighborhoods of Kampala, is part of the Inspire Ghetto Kids Foundation, an NGO that supports girls and boys through art.
The group was founded in 2007 by Kavuma Dauda, who after being orphaned decided to help minors in vulnerable situations. The foundation covers education, food, housing and medical care through donations. Shakira met them and invited them to her concert in New Jersey, where they participated in the dynamic “Walk with the Wolf.”
Ghetto Kids became popular in 2014 with the video “Sitya Loss” by Eddy Kenzo. In 2023 they participated in Britain’s Got Talent. They have more than 9 million followers on Instagram and 13 million on TikTok. They have received awards such as the AFRIMMA and recognition from the RIAA.
Currently the NGO assists 60 orphaned or vulnerable minors. At least 20 have collaborated with celebrities like Chris Brown and, now, Shakira. They have also met figures such as Lionel Messi and Kun Agüero.
Celebrities in the final
The event will bring together other stars: Tom Cruise, Robbie Williams, Laura Pausini, BTS, Madonna and Justin Bieber, among others.
