The case of the murdered councilor takes a crucial turn
The Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City has just taken a fundamental step. They arrested Ángel N, the alleged perpetrator of the murder of the Reynosa councilor, Brayan Salinas. The crime occurred on December 6, 2025 in an apartment in the Tabacalera neighborhood.
This is not just any case. He is the second detainee. The first, Yael N, was captured last December for possession of prohibited substances and later linked to this case.
How they closed the siege
The FGJ reconstructed the scene with forensic precision. Analysis of cameras, testimonies and technical monitoring took them to Paseo de la Reforma number 27. There they identified that both suspects entered the property on the day of the incident.
With these data, an agent from the Public Ministry obtained the arrest warrants. Justice gave the green light.
The operation ended on April 9 in Tecámac, State of Mexico. Agents of the Investigative Police located and detained Ángel N. He is now in the North Men’s Preventive Prison, at the disposal of a judge.
The puzzle is put together. Yael N was already in preventive detention for other charges when he was formally linked to the murder of the councilor. The order against him was completed on April 9.
Two arrests, four months after the crime. The Prosecutor’s Office sends a clear message: these cases do not go unpunished. But the political theater following the assassination of an elected official is only beginning its second act.
