From Mel Gibson star to recurring problems with the law
The news comes like an uncomfortable déjà vu. Rudy Youngblood, the actor who made us sweat in the jungle with Mel Gibson, was arrested this Thursday in Texas. The reason: a charge related to possession of controlled substances.
According to TMZ, it all started with a traffic violation. They stopped him for speeding, checked his data and… surprise. He had an outstanding warrant out of Bell County. He was handcuffed and taken to the Henderson County Jail without further drama.
Officers arrested him on a warrant issued in Bell County for possession of a controlled substance (between 1 and 4 grams), a felony that carries up to two years in prison.
But this is not an isolated incident. It is rather the latest chapter in a story that repeats itself. In October of last year he had already been arrested in Texas for an alleged family assault. And if we go back to 2017, we have the Miami casino episode, where he ended up in handcuffs for disorderly conduct under the influence.
It’s hard not to see the pattern. The same face that embodied the fight for survival in ‘Apocalypto’ seems to be fighting another battle, this time against his own legal demons. His career was practically frozen after the initial success, and these police reports have become his sad media update.
The image of the signed actor contrasts brutally with that of the young hunter who fled from human sacrifices on the big screen. Real life sometimes writes cruder scripts than Hollywood.
