A moment of celebration marred by crime
Hello, family! Today I want to talk to you about something that reminds us that even in the brightest moments, sometimes darkness tries to steal our joy. Romina Marcos, daughter of the iconic Niurka, and her girlfriend, the renowned sexologist Laura Salazar, lived an experience that makes us reflect on safety in spaces of community celebration.
During the Pride March in Mexico City, an event that symbolizes love, freedom and resistance, someone decided to stain that spirit. While they shared selfies and hugs with the community, a thief took advantage of the distraction to snatch Laura’s cell phone. Can you believe it? In the middle of the diversity festival!
The disappointment that transforms into action
Romina did not hide her sadness on social networks: “My heart is broken… I prefer to celebrate at home with my people.” And although their decision not to physically attend future marches is understandable, this invites us to ask ourselves: how can we protect these spaces that cost us so much to conquer?
But here’s the powerful side: the LGBTQ+ community never gives up. This incident does not define Pride, but rather challenges us to create strategies so that no one else goes through this. From peaceful watchdog groups to awareness campaigns, there are a thousand ways to turn this bitterness into action!
And has something similar happened to you at massive events? Don’t let fear dim your light. Share your ideas to improve safety in these spaces using #SafePride. Together we can make the next march even brighter and more protected.
