A battle beyond the grave
Romina Mircoli, the only daughter of the singer Dulce, is fully involved in a formal process. His goal: recover his mother’s ashes. And no, it’s not as simple as going to pick them up.
Since Dulce died in December of last year, her remains have been in the eye of the hurricane. In her will she made her wish clear: to be placed with her mother in some lots that she herself bought in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.
But that will ran into reality. And reality is in the form of family conflict.
Ashes in the middle of the crossfire
It turns out that the ashes are in the possession of Dulce’s relatives. We are specifically talking about an aunt and a cousin, with whom Romina – let’s be clear – does not get along well.
Romina’s lawyer, Gerardo Rincón, explained it on the De Primera Mano program:
“There is a process. Now is not the time, and then make it pertinent and legal.”
The mess started when Romina sent them the ashes. The receiving family alleged that the urn arrived damaged. Romina, for her part, claims that they denied her the necessary papers to use the lots and fulfill her mother’s last wish.
According to Rincón, communication is null. They don’t answer calls. There is no dialogue.
The ironic – and sad – thing is that the solution could be simple. The lawyer said it:
“It would be enough for them to deliver the ashes to a funeral home… But when people don’t want to and seek conflict, we have to face them.”
So now it’s time for legal action. The objective of the process is clear: for a judge to determine who has the right to those remains and order that they be delivered to his daughter.
Meanwhile, Dulce’s ashes are still waiting. Trapped in a familiar limbo, far from the place where she wanted to rest.
