The PRI parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies presented a reform initiative to prevent the Women’s Secretariat from being left without a head for more than 30 calendar days. The measure applies in cases of resignation, removal, death or permanent disability.
Federal representative Ariana Rejón Lara promotes the modification to the Organic Law of the Federal Public Administration. Their argument: the permanent leadership of the agency is essential to guarantee the fulfillment of its functions in substantive equality.
The reform proposes that the Federal Executive have a maximum period of 30 calendar days to make the appointment. During the transition, the corresponding undersecretary will immediately assume the management of matters, avoiding gaps in authority.
The proposal arises after the Women’s Secretariat remains headless since the resignation of Citlalli Hernández on April 16. Although Laura Itzel Castillo was appointed to the position, her swearing-in is scheduled until September. The PRI points out that this situation shows the urgency of clear rules for institutional continuity.
