Natalia’s response
The “Las Natalias” meme returned to the conversation. This time, Natalia Lafourcade decided to respond bluntly. During a talk with YouTuber Henry Spencer, the “Hasta la Root” singer described the trend as ridiculous.
“What idleness, really. How ridiculous,” he said.
The viral comparison—which uses the classic Spiderman meme pointing—suggests that singers like Ximena Sariñana, Carla Morrison, Mon Laferte and Julieta Venegas “all sing the same.” They even label them with nicknames like “tattooed Natalia” or “strawberry Natalia.”
Lafourcade was clear: each one has her own style. And he stressed his respect for his colleagues.
“The truth is that that is very bad because we each have our own style. I adore them and respect them very much. I don’t believe that we are alike at all,” she stated.
With humor, he added that those who confuse them “need to tune their ears a little more to realize the enormous differences we have, enormous and wonderful.”
The singer from Veracruz also revealed that she maintains a close friendship with several of the artists. In fact, they share a WhatsApp group.
“I talk to everyone. I have a chat where they are, of course, because we are friends,” she said, referring to Julieta, Mon, Carla and Ximena.
When asked if the chat is called “Las Natalias,” he responded with a laugh:
“The chat could be called ‘Las Julietas’, ‘Las Carlas’ or ‘Las Mons’. That makes us all laugh a lot.”
