Frankie Muñiz’s hard baptism on the slopes
Frankie Muñiz had an intense debut in NASCAR. Hours after the premiere of the Malcolm in the Middle revival, the actor who changed Hollywood for driving was involved in a serious crash in the Craftsman Truck Series.
It all happened in a corner at Bristol Motor Speedway. Frankie was on the outside, close to the wall, when Tyler Reif, who was rolling in the center, moved quickly and they ended up colliding.
Muñiz’s truck took the brunt of it. It spun around and ended up in the opposite direction, with the bodywork—and the promotional image of the series—completely dented.
“I actually thought we were doing pretty well, I felt pretty fast. We were in the ‘lucky dog’ position, so I was just trying to get good lap times,” Frankie said after getting out of the car.
The incredible thing is that both pilots emerged unharmed. Although according to Muñiz, his track partner did not take what happened well.
“He was screaming in there, telling me I was a straggler, like I shouldn’t be competing,” the actor said. And he added with determination: “I’m fighting, I belong to that track as much as he does and I’m not going to give in.”
Beyond the scare, this incident shows something key: the transition from child star to professional driver is a literal bumpy road. But Frankie has already shown that he has the nerve to stand up.
Meanwhile, fans who want to see his other big adventure—Malcolm’s Return—will have to look for it on Disney+. The original series will air again on Azteca 7 in the coming days.
