Storm in Nuevo León: blackouts affect thousands
The heavy rainfall that hit Nuevo León this Friday caused electrical interruptions for 284,514 users, according to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE). Until the last report, the company had recovered supply to 200,894 customers, which represents 71.1 percent of those affected. However, 81,620 people were still without electricity at the time of reporting.
The storm mainly impacted the metropolitan area of Monterrey and other municipalities in the state. In addition to power outages, flooding and damage associated with heavy rains, gusts of wind and electric shocks were recorded.
Faced with the contingency, the CFE deployed 202 workers, 42 cranes and 59 vehicles. The parastatal assured that it will continue the work until the service is restored to 100 percent of the users. No injuries or major damage to critical infrastructure have been reported.
