Elements of the Army, the National Guard and the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic seized three properties and 46 vehicles in Durango belonging to the La Mayiza faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.
The searches were carried out on June 21 and 22 in the capital of Durango, based on information shared by the United States National Security Investigations Office. Among the seized assets, tractors with trailers for transporting fuel, all-terrain vehicles and pick-up trucks, as well as weapons, chargers and ammunition of multiple calibers stand out.
The Secretariat of National Defense reported that what was seized was made available to the FGR to continue with the investigations and determine the final destination of the assets. The criminal group is led by Ismael Zambada Sicairos, “El Mayito Flaco”.
In the framework of the current administration, the authorities report the total seizure of 4,626 firearms, 12,932 kilograms of methamphetamine, 199 kilograms of fentanyl, more than 2 million fentanyl pills, 13,934 kilograms of marijuana, 281 of cocaine, 114 of opium gum and 8 of heroin. They have also seized 3,010 vehicles, 9 aircraft, and more than 37 million pesos, in addition to 896,000 dollars.
This operation is part of the federal actions to dismantle the structures of the Sinaloa Cartel, considered one of the criminal groups with the greatest operational capacity in the country. The authorities maintain collaboration with international agencies to weaken their logistics and resources.
