A voice that fades too soon
The news came to us like a sudden blow. Héctor Zamorano, that guy that many of us remember being the first eliminated from the first generation of ‘The Academy’, died at the age of 47. TV Azteca confirmed it on its networks with a message full of regret.
Think about this: in 2002, at only 23 years old, he stood in front of Mexico to sing ‘A todo lung’. It was the beginning of a story that, although brief in the contest, did not end there.
From reality to the studio (and beyond)
His dream did not die with his departure from the program. The following year he released his debut album ‘My flavor’, and there was ‘Batido de coco’, his best-known song. In an interview at the time for ‘TVT’, he was seen with contagious energy.
“It has been placed very well in several parts… this album has brought me a lot of satisfaction,” said Zamorano about his album. He even spoke with enthusiasm about a second material that, as far as we know, never came to fruition.
His career took more turns. He appeared in soap operas such as ‘Súbete a mi moto’ and returned to the reality TV universe with ‘Desafío de Estrellas’ (2003) and ‘Second Chance’ (2010).
It’s strange. The first generation of that program marked an entire litter. Seeing one of its original members leave, especially so young, is a brutal reminder of the passage of time. Beyond the television character, there remains the music and the memory of those who bet everything on a song.
